In this novel, Gilbert finally becomes a doctor, and the happy couple marries in the presence of their closest friends. As a new chapter in their lives begin, they move into a house amongst the indulating waves of Four Winds Harbour. New adventures begin, bringing forth fresh thrills! The Blythes meet new friends, among them Captain Jim - the wise storyteller and lighthouse keeper, Leslie Moore - whose haunting past breaks Anne's heart, and the audacious Miss Cornelia.

Quote: "Thanks be, I'm done with geometry, learning or teaching it," said Anne Shirley, a trifle vindictively, as she thumped a somewhat battered volume of Euclid into a big chest of books, banged the lid in triumph and sat down upon it, looking at Diana Wright across the Green Gables garret, with gray eyes that were like the morning sky.
