August 11th, 2008 Yummy Recipes

As mentioned, I have reorganized the recipes available on this website and I’ve ordered everything into alphabetical order in this list of recipes.  The recipes I’ve added are:

It’s neat to note that many of the goodies Anne would’ve enjoyed in the Victorian era are still eaten today!

I’ve added a bunch of screencaps in the new gallery for Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story (2008).  I’ve also moved a bunch of pictures to this new gallery, so keep visiting for gallery updates!

August 2nd, 2008 The Last Month of Summer…

I can’t believe it either, August has arrived!  I’ve been furiously studying for another summer course, so July only had one update :(  But, I do have lots of updates planned for this month, and if they’re not finished, they’ll appear in the September updates.  I’ve found some more recipes for the Victorian treats eaten in the Anne series, and I made over 150 screencaps for Anne of Avonlea (1987) (TV), but I’m still converting a bunch of them from BMP to JPEG files.  Here are a few new screencaps from that film, you can view the rest here.  I will upload the rest of them when I finished converting the files.

I also have a new gallery that I’ve been waiting for two years to create (part of the reason why I decided to get this domain), because it has lots of functions, and visitors can register to upload their own Anne pictures too!  I’m still transferring files to that account and I’ll be creating a layout for it, but you can see the progress here now.  The old gallery will still be available for back-up because I’m weary about this PHP stuff, this new gallery could prove to be disasterous, so a back-up is always a good idea :S

The August calendar is finished, and as you can tell, Gilbert Blythe was very popular among voters, because he won the most votes in the monthly poll and so…he’s featured (the first character other than Anne) in the monthly calendar:

The July monthly poll was, “Who else would you like to see on the August calendar with Anne?”, and as mentioned above, the winner was Gilbert Blythe, with 12 votes! Diana Barry and Marilla Cuthbert both tied with 5 votes, Matthew Cuthbert was close behind with 4 votes, and there was an ‘Other’ vote for Anne’s children.  I’d also like to say “YAY!” because the poll actually closed on August 1 :) You can vote in this month’s poll if you scroll down to the left or click here.

July 9th, 2008 O Anne!

Thanks for voting in the June poll, there were many responses!!  The question was, “If there was a nineth book in the series, what would you want to the book to be about?“, and the winner was a tie between Anne & Gilbert and Anne and Gilbert’s Children with 10 votes each.  I know there were some votes made after July 1, which brought Anne & Gilbert ahead by 2 votes, but since the poll was supposed to be closed and unable for voting, the winner is still a tie.  I don’t know why you can still vote after the poll had been set to close automatically, but in any case, vote before the end of the month and your vote will be counted :) Anne herself recieved 3 votes, and the Other category had 4 votes, including the answers Anne & Jack, Anne & Diana, The Meredith Children, and The Whole Family. You can vote in the new poll on the left, just scroll down a bit and you’ll see it.

The July calendar is here.  I used the older style of calendars on this website to freshen things up a bit:

Also a note to Biancha, who left a message on the Guestbook, I answered your question, “Have you read the other novels and short stories by Lucy? They’re a lot of fun because some of them contain characters from the Anne series (e.g. Anne, Gilbert, Rilla)! You can find the other books at http://anne.honeytart.com/lmm_novels_ss.php. I’m also a fan of Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion) and Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. Maybe you’ll enjoy those novels too.”

June 27th, 2008 New Video

I’ve created a new video for Anne of Windy Poplars/Willows (1936) with the covers I’ve found so far:

I’ve also created character pages for Marilla Cuthbert and John Blythe (Gilbert’s dad).  You can find other characters here

I’ve answered a question from the Anne FAQ inbox:

Who played Josie Pye in the original London cast?

I tried really hard to look for information (Anne of Green  Gables, Original London Cast of 1969), but the most I’ve found is a list of the cast:

I looked for the individual performers to see if  they played the role of Josie Pye.  I’ll try to keep looking.  If any visitors here know, please comment to this post and I’ll post it up in the pages.  Thanks.

Do you have an Anne question? Feel free to ask!

June 4th, 2008 And So June Arrives

Thanks for waiting so patiently throughout May.  I took an intensive summer class at the last minute that pretty much ate up my entire three weeks, so of course, there were no updates to this website.

Now that I’m done, I’m happy to say that all the monthly updates are here.  With the lovely poll service that I’m using now, the polls can be set to automatically close at the the end of every month (as you probably had seen with the May poll, it was closed on June 1st).  So if you’re thinking about voting, don’t hesitate to do it.

The May poll question was “Which of Anne’s friends was the most like you?“. 28 voters voted, and the winner was (9-6) Diana Barry to Phillipa Gordon. The ‘Other’ category received 6 votes, but they were for different characters (1 for Gilbert Blythe, 2 for Priscilla Grant, 1 for Leslie Ford, 1 for Anne herself, and an unspecified vote).  Jane Andrews and Stella Maynard were a tie with 3 votes each, and Ruby Gillis was last with only 1 vote. Please vote in the new poll, which you can find here or towards the bottom of the page on the left.

Be sure to look out for the 100th ‘Anne’versary celebrations happening in Prince Edward Island, because June is one of the busiest months :)   A recent article about the events was published at Reuters Canada and it mentions the Anne postage stamp, which Canada and Japan are working on in collaboration. There’s also a bit of information on what’s being exhibited at Canada’s National Archives that’s related to Anne (source).
