I’m happy to post two new affiliates to this website: Road to Avonlea Fanlisting and Anne of Green Gables Fanlisting.

December 26th, 2009 Happy Holidays!

I hope you are all enjoying the winter holidays :) I’ve added three recipes: Lemon Biscuits, Shortbread and Drop (Sugar) Cookies with Icing as many of you may be doing a lot of baking around this time of year!

I’ve answered two Anne FAQs.  I have more FAQs coming up, including a couple from the past two months that take a bit more time to answer. They will be posted soon!

How old was Anne when she moved in with the cutlers?
Do you mean the Cuthberts? Anne was 11 years old when she was adopted by
Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert.

Is Anne of Green” Gabbles” a true story?
Although the characters are not real,
Anne of Green Gables is based on an event where the author’s relatives and another couple decided to adopt boys.  Montgomery’s relatives went pick up the two boys, who they expected to be around 10-12 years old, but they found a 5-year-old boy with his 3-year-old sister instead. You can read more about the event here.

To update a previous Anne FAQ that was similarly phrased:

Why dose the orphanage send Anne to the cutlers?
If you are referring to the Cuthberts, they requested an orphan boy from the orphanage but Anne Shirley was sent to them by accident.

Feel free to ask your own Anne FAQ.

December 20th, 2009 Updates Finally Here!!

Thank you all for waiting so patiently in the past two-and-a-half months for updates, along with the notes of encouragement and understanding :)  Hopefully I can churn out more updates during this winter break!

I’ve finally finished the December calendar (thanks for the offers to make it!).  I hope it can still be used for the remaining two weeks:

The “monthly poll“, which has obviously been the same for more than two months, had 569 votes!  That’s the most votes ever recorded for a poll on this website :D  The question was, “Which of the Anne books do you own?” The winner was Anne of Green Gables, with 96 votes, and the second was Anne of Avonlea with 78 votes.  Surprisingly, the votes were mostly decreasing with each subsequent book in the series:

Anne of the Island - 77 votes
Anne’s House of Dreams - 71 votes
Anne of Windy Poplars - 68 votes
Anne of Ingleside - 63 votes
Rainbow Valley - 59 votes
Rilla of Ingleside - 57 votes

Since Anne of Green Gables was owned the most by this website’s visitors, this month’s question is, “How many times have you read Anne of Green Gables?“  You can vote in the new monthly poll here or scroll down and look in the left navigation bar.

I still have some Anne FAQ that I’m working through, which should be up by next week.  Thanks for waiting!
